Our History

​

 

​Everything we do at Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church is built upon the lives of people we never met. These followers had faith in the Lord and a love for their Community.

 

Early in the year of 1880, God instilled in their minds a great need for a place to worship. The fact that no building was available did not deter the spirit filled believers; they held meetings in various buildings and  in their homes.  In 1888, God blessed them with the opportunity  to buy land for a permanent church home at 217 Lane Avenue; the deed was recorded on September 24, 1888. The Church remained at this location for nearly ninety-seven years.

 

In  1977, Macedonia was able to complete construction of our beautiful sanctuary and grounds on the corners of Lane, Glass, and Whitehall Streets. To celebrate this new phase of our History, the membership marched from the old church to the new church on January 30, 1977.

 

Throughout our history, God has continually blessed Macedonia and our hearts and minds are open in anticipation for all that He so graciously has planned for us. Many laymen and laywomen have worked diligently to make Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church what it is today…a big ‘heart’ in the community. We stand as a ’body’ of Faith, Hope, Fellowship and Love.
